It was 2021, when the first time I landed my self in West Papua to assess village governance and the way they redistribute special autonomy and village funds. I have no Idea that time except I was like, “lets just do this project, learn about Papua, and go home.” I was 25th year old lady who spent most of her time at time in her office and extremely excited that she finally will went to West Papua. I have not much on my plate except good times. I had good teams and something really good to learn, both from team and the informants. I learn pretty cool generational change, educational backgrounds, advance organisationals as well as network experiences in Papuan village polity and governance could reshape Papua significantly rather than most of Javanese village that I used to know. Meanwhile, at that time, I told my leader, yes I wanted to continue my study although I still don’t know where.
I have no idea how but then 2026 brought me back to similar project with different unit to be observed as well as different region. It was the regional government this time.
I went from Yogyakarta and intentionally took the longest flight by myself. I never think of this before, but then I kept my eyes on the plane window to see the landscape. I was like, it was such a huge landscape full with plants: Sagoo, three–the food forest. How we are going to build this island. So then I did the job, assessing regional government and the way they redistributed the money to develop the region. I was like, we had such a little money to built this entire region. I mean it is huge probably 5 years ago – when I don’t even understand the value of money and inflation happened in the region due to poor logistic and low human development index.
